ecoENERGY Evaluations
At Sears Canada, we're committed to helping our customers reduce their energy bills. We want to make it easy for homeowners to implement the most energy efficient solutions.
The ecoENERGY Retrofit-Homes initiative was developed by Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) to help and encourage Canadians to improve the energy efficiency of their homes.
On June 6th, 2011, the Government of Canada renewed the ecoENERGY Retrofit-Homes program until March 31, 2012. Under the program, homeowners can qualify for up to $5,000 in federal grants when replacing existing equipment with qualifying products. These products can include, but are not limited to, windows, water heaters, insulation and home heating and cooling equipment. Here’s an example of some of the products that qualify:
| Product |
Grants Up to ($) |
| Furnace |
$790 |
| Attic Insulation |
$750 |
| Air-Source Heat Pump |
$500 |
| Heat Recovery Ventilation |
$375 |
| Water Heater |

| Central Air Conditioner |

The complete grant table can be found on NRCan's website.
If you have not participated in the ecoENERGY program previously, you need to register on NRCan's website prior to booking an appointment for a pre-retrofit evaluation. Homeowners that have had their properties evaluated since April 1, 2007 can also register as long as they have not received the maximum grant of $5,000.
