Very poor saw, do NOT buy!!!

When cutting an angle cut, you would think 45 degrees equals 45 degrees, it is not even close, I guess that is the difference between a good quality saw and a poor one. Do not buy this one/brand, not worth the money.

Not worth the effort

I received this saw as a Christmas gift. I am quite particular about properly setting up the tools I have as I make furniture as a hobby. I am a machinist by trade and very used to setting tools to cut accurately. I spent three hours with this saw and the best I could do for a straight cut was out by 2 degrees. This equates to around 1/8" shorter at one end then the other on a 12" board. When using the thumb lock there is 2 degrees of movement so even if you could achieve a perfect cut repeatability is difficult. The blade guard also catches on the board when making cuts. I will be returning this saw and trading up to a Craftsman brand that I have had better success with in the past.

I expected better.

To start off the laser sight was on, and its battery operated.
So i went to shut it off, it never worked again.
Secondly, when you lock it down to make a simple cut, it is not stationary.
From what i can see its due to the locking bolt only on one of the slides.
It gives it enough movement to allow the blade to wonder enough that you wont get a straight cut.
I had read a previous review that referred to this.
I should have listened.
I have checked every adjustment on this unit and followed the instructions, but due to its design i do not see any way around this flaw.
Unless i chance drilling and tapping a locking bolt on the second slide?
It also does not cut straight during a sliding cut as well.
I guess it just boils down to, "you get what you pay for"

Cons:Â not accurate at all., laser does not work

Good value for the price paid

Great saw when on sale. Don't expect much from the blade that's included. For basic light household use is good but don't relay on laser to be 100% acccurate.

Pros:Â Easy to operate, Good design, value

This saw is good for light household use. A sliding mitre saw is a big advantage for larger pieces The laser can be a pain to adjust and still can't be trusted. It's a good deal when bought on sale

Fence placement??

I just bought this saw and am a novice at using such an instrument.
I find that the way it is set up, when I put a piece of wood against the fence the saw blade does not cut all the way through the wood - I need to either turn the wood over and try the cut again, or I have to put other scrap pieces of wood against the fence first and put the piece I want to cut in front (closer to me) of the scrap pieces.

What can I do to make sure the blade cuts all the way through when my piece of wood is against the fence?
