Perfect fit.

This was pretty easy to set up. It fits a wide opening perfectly. I had a hard time finding a baby gate that would fit and still look good. This does both and fits right in with our decor.

This baby gate was easy to install - I was able to do it by myself in less than 30 minutes. I like the one hand opening and the versatility it offers by being able to expand to accomodate large openings.

You would mount the lower hinges to the baseboard.

The upper hinges would be mounted to the wall.

The toggle bolts (the metal threaded rods with the circular end caps attached) on top would simply be unscrewed a little bit further out to meet the top hingesâ¦the adjustment in the toggle bolts allows you to have offset hinge locations from top to bottom (in the case of baseboards)

Does this gate have to be installed on two walls directly across from each other? Is the piece that attaches to the wall and the gate itself in a rigid line or can it swing to an angle to install between two walls not exactly opposite each other?

Hello,

This gate is installed from one wall to the exact opposite wall, in a straight line (rigid).
It is hardware mounted (though not recommended for top of stairs), therefore not flexible to be installed between 2 walls not opposite to one another.

However, we do have another gate that would work, which is the Sure & Secure Custom Fit Gate (Sears item # 67254)which would work for unusual openings and alternative areas such as a room corner.
