Q:Â
Is this frame designed to be used with a mattress AND box spring or can it be used with a mattress alone?

When purchasing the mattress and foundation. Ensure you choose the low profile foundation. As a regular foundation is too high and half the headboard is missing. It still sits higher then your normal metal frame bed, but the height makes you feel like a king or queen.
If you only use the mattress with a posture board, it will reduce your warranty for the mattress by half.

We just purchased the Pendleton Bed - Queen Size along with a mattress and box spring - THE BOX SPRING is a WRONG CHOICE - it makes the overall bed TOO HIGH and therefore you can not see much of the headboard. A POSTURE BOARD (about $50 according to a sears associate) instead of a BOX SPRING is recommended so that the mattress remains warrantied and so that the overall bed is not so high.
