Rated 4 out of 5 by from very convenient Since a year I am using a Panasonic NNSD382S microwave oven I only found at Sears. I choose it for its size to be put on counter in a small kitchen and for the good reputation of the brand. The quality of the product can be feel and no compromise on power for heating and defrosting on such a small unit of 0.8 cubic foot with 950 watts, it is powerfull. The power is very comparable to larger in batch size proportion. It is pleasant to use because of its good ergonomic. The door is operating smoothly. It have an internal light with turn on with unit or door opening. Display is on an “LCD” green lighted of a good digit size 3/8” indicate time of the day. The controls push button even if they are oblong work absolutely beautifully with tactile and sound feedback and instead of a keypad for value entry a rotary knob is of good quality is used for precise setting shown on display, the rotary knob can hide flush or appear by pushing on it. Heating setting can be done by successive push to set power and time “minutes” button: boil 1 cup 8 oz of water in less than 2 minutes, reheat full coffee cup from cold in 1 minute. I find it perfect for single dishes with food for one or two person, it is heating evenly. The inverter defrosting Panasonic exclusive, it defrost meat quickly without cooking or drying on side of the meat or on the side of container, it’s absolutely fantastic. On this appliance the autocook function is not adapt by sensors like it is for the Genius type of Panasonic. Because of that the Autocook is very limited and portion size and water content have to be precise and learn by trial and error until satisfactory result achieved. I have tried oatmeal and potatoes. Sound while unit in operation is steady and quite reasonable seem not excessive to me it about match the sound of my 3 speed range hood set at low. Sometime the cooling fan continue for a short period a minute or so after the cooking turn off at bip indication. Easy to maintain clean inside also outside finish not sensitive to fingerprint. The rotary tray 11” lightly larger than a diner plate can be removed easily to be wash. I am very satisfied of this purchase even if autocook need some learning it can be nice to have it genius in future. Sears deliver it on time at pick up counter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very happy with this purchase. I have been using this microwave for a week now and it's really nice to use. Great features, easy/intuitive controls. Looks very sleek and modern. Cooks well. My only criticism, if it can be called that, is that fingerprints show up a lot on this stainless steel finish, compared to the white one we had before, but it looks so much better and matches our other appliances now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compact and effective I am thoroughly enjoying my new microwave: it occupies less space than my old one, matches the rest of the stainless steel appliances in my kitchen and does what I need it to do very effectively. I also like the turning knob in the middle of the panel: it seem to provide better control. Didn’t have a chance to try all functions but am looking forward to it. All in all, I feel I made a right decision! It was worth the wait (unusually long, I regret to say...). Regina in Toronto

What is the max consumption power draw for this oven?

Asked by: Charles666
Actually, I received this microwave about a week ago (purchased from Sears) and it's 950W, not 800W!!
Answered by: AMDempsey
Date published: 2014-08-06

We want to replace the microwave on our boat but we are restricted in power draw to 10 Amps maximum. None of the specifications show the amperage draw, just wattage which is not as important. Do you have any microwaves of 10 amps or less?

Asked by: Mercator
The calculation to work out the current is simple. Take the wattage (which in this case is actually 950W, not the 800W stated erroneously in the specifications!) and divide it by the voltage, so 950/110 = 8.64A.
