New Bright Has Really Bad Customer ServiceI recommend that you DO NOT BUY remote controlled toys made by New Bright until they improve their Customer Service. I purchased several New Bright remote controlled cars and their Spyder (#61039) R.C. motorcycle for four of my grandchildren this past Christmas. I have been communicating frequently with a nice, but unfortunately inadequately trained and resourced customer service rep since Christmas and still canât get the answer to a simple question â how to buy an additional battery for the Spyder. Eight emails into the process she let me know that she canât answer my question so she referred it to a supervisor; this goes back to January 5th and I still havenât heard back from this mythical person.
New Bright has been around since 1955 so I expected better customer service. Hereâs what they havenât answered yet: the Spyder is a large R.C. toy that uses a rechargeable 9.6 volt battery. The charge only lasts for 15 minutes so with many grandchildren, Iâm trying to buy additional batteries. Makes sense, doesnât it. Their website says they donât sell extra batteries so just buy any 9.6 volt battery on the web. The problem is that their battery has external contacts on the battery (no cord) and it powers the Spyder (and recharges) simply by slipping it into a slot. Every 9.6 volt battery I find on the web connects by plugging in a short cord. Almost a month and 8 emails later, they still havenât provided any information about a better description of the battery so I can buy some extras or better yet, provide me with a link to a supplier. This is really poor customer service. I will keep trying and provide you with an update from time to time. Until then, I recommend staying away from New Bright R.C. toys.
