What Guage Steel?

Q:Â

Saying the steel is "304" tells me nothing. All manufacturers use a number like 18 or 20, signifying the thickness of the metal. The bigger the number the thinner the steel (no good!). Also what "Pad" is that for sound insulation? Is the underside of the sink coated?

Hello,

The pad on the underside is to reduce noise from the sink. The sink is not coated. The pad is only on the bottom of the sink, not the sides.

The outside dimensions of the MODERN HOMESâ¢ Stainless Steel Bowl-and-a-half Kitchen Sink are 31" (78.74 cm) l. x 18" (45.72 cm) w. x 9" (22.86 cm) h.

The inside dimensions for each sink are as follows:

Larger sink - 15.4" (39.10 cm) l. x 14.9" (37.82 cm) w. x 6.8" (17.31 cm) h.
Smaller sink - 10.9" (27.56 cm) l. x 14.9" (37.82 cm) w. x 6.8" (17.31 cm) h.

Gauge of steel

Your sink page shows 3 'MODERN' sinks. All 3 have a question concerning the steel gauge. The answer for the double bowl was given as 18 gauge. One of the bowl and a half is said to be 16 gauge and the other bowl and a half is stated to be 20 gauge. Are these similar sinks really three different gauges of steel?

If you are referring to the sink drain plug then yes it is included however if you are referring to a rinse basket for the rinsing sink then no it is not included.
