Miele is not for me

After having the salesperson at Fairview Mall extoll the virtues of this canister vacuum to me (as well as to the three customers before me who also ended up purchasing a Miele ), I decided to try the vacuum that had a 10 year warranty and was "German made"-my parents used to use that line 40 years ago. I have used the machine twice and both times my back and arm were very sore after vacuuming. With my old Kenmore the power head made vacuuming so much easier as it pulled the head forward, and it was easier to move backward - the Miele is not smooth when pulling back. In addition the cord is short, there is no way to turn off the machine from the handle-so you always have to walk back to the canister !!!, and when I bend down to change an attachment the exhaust (?) from the canister blows straight up into my face. I guess I am comparing it to my Kenmore and finding all of the above are a pain. IT IS SUPER QUIET, is not very heavy, is very strong with the suction, and again has a great warranty being offered that is 2X the regular 5 year warranty Miele usually offers. However, it just isn't for me. If this is your first canister - go for it, it cleans really well - and you won't have anything to compare it to. I am going to return the machine and try a Dyson.

Pros:Â Well constructed, Powerful suction, relatively lightweight, Quiet

Cons:Â uncomfortable, cannot be turned off/on from the handle, cord is short, requires more muscle to pull back

Mission accomplished on Quest for a Great Vacuum

I like my Miele Momentum and would definitely recommend others for the following reasons.
. Lighter than other leading brand canisters
. Quieter than other leading brand canisters
. Sturdier than other leading brand canisters
. No more dust mites falling on my body while emptying
. Powerful suction second only to professional carpet vacuum

I have been looking for a perfect vacuum for ages. My son has skin allergy and often develops hives when in contacts with dusts. Miele Momentum outperforms all of the vacuums (upright/canister) and provides deeper suction, I can see it in action as Miele literally pulls the carpet off the floor (without destroying it of course). I also don't have to worry about emptying the cup with dusts flying all over the places which I hated doing over the years with my bagless vacuums. Miele Momentum is a lot quieter/lighter/sturdier than others I have used before which is inline with the price tag. The air filter is better than others since it spews less pungent odour.

What I don't like about it are the following:
. expensive
. flawed telescopic wand design
. shorter retractable power cord

I finally decided to pay a lot more on a vacuum as a gamble, and I do not regret the decision so far. You do get what you pay for, and the 5 yr warranty can come in handy since I know by experience all my previous vacuum start to have problems after a year or two. It is also the reason why I picked the middle of the 3 Miele canister vacuums (Continuum/Momentum/Contour) since I am not willing to pay for the most expensive one nor do I want to get the cheapest one. The telescopic wand design is flawed in my opinion since it cannot stand up 90' on its own for some weird design issue. It has to click onto the canister base or just lean it on a wall. But sometimes I have to run to my kid while vacuuming in the middle of the room I would just like to have it stand on its own but it cannot do that. As for the shorter power cord, I can't do anything about it, and for now I will just live with finding another socket when I am in another room.

It is the best vacuum I have purchased so far. Overall I give it 4-star rating because it is not perfect, but definitely close enough!

Pros:Â Easy to clean, Comfortable, super suction

Cons:Â telescopic wand cannot stand on its own, power cord 2' shorter than other caniste, expensive

Hello Momster,

The MieleÂ® S2 Momentum Canister Vacuum is perfect for pet hair. The powerhead is excellent at removing those hard to get hairs. When you combine the filter bags and the Super AirClean filter, you filter out pet dander also. There is an extra attachment available called the hand turbo brush for upholstery and stairs, but it may not be necessary as the floor power brush that comes with the momentum can be attached directly to the handle, just remove the wand.
