Rated 5 out of 5 by from Purchased this last week as a replacement and am pleased to say it is excellent. Much better than earlier models. Very quiet compared to the noisy machine we were using and very quick to remove the humidity. Very happy with purchase (on sale too!)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works very well but... I bought one of these 50 pint units about 14 months ago. It worked very well up to about a month ago when it seemed to have difficulty keeping the air dry without running almost all the time. I decided to remove the covers to have a close look at the heat exchangers and discovered they were almost completely plugged up with hairs and dust. The "filter" screen does NOT keep all hairs and dust out of the heat exchangers. Material simply is pulled around the "filter" and lodges so deep that a complete disassembly is needed. As my unit is out of warranty I did it myself with great success, but unless you are skilled with this sort of work I would recommend you take it to a professional. I made up a pre-filter that covers the intake grille completely which has reduced the amount of material getting in, but not all of it. I expect to be tearing it apart again at some point. Were it not for that huge problem I would have given the unit a 5 star rating.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from good product I was very impressed with the Kenmore dehumidifier that I bought 5 months ago. It is quiet (a bit louder than a freezer when it is running). The water is collected in the basket or can be connected to a drain. The basket is well designed with a partial cover on it so that it does not spill easily when carrying it. I should have bought the 70pt unit for my stone foundation basement.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the job! Purchased this for our house who is 4 years old and was getting humid in basement. It works very well. During the summer I empty it out daily which means it is doing its job. It is rather noisy but I can't imagine it would be as efficient being silent...

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Kenmore 50 pt dehumidifier This unit works great, first time in years our basement has not been damp over the summer months. The best feature of all is the hose hook up so that the water can go straight out into the sewer, so minimal work is involved. No water to empty, just let it do it by itself. Should have bought one years ago.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very Satisfied I just purchased this item a few days ago. I went with Kenmore because I've had one for almost 20 years and it still works like new. This new model is far less noisy but the fan is always on. The old ones the fan would stop when the compressor did. Not the new models. It seems to produce a considerable amount of water. The reservoir is not terribly big but has a very useful handle making it easy to carry it for emptying it.

is the fan supposed to run continuously. every time i've checked on it, it's running. today i was in the basement and it stopped for about 1 minute, then started again. is this normal?

Asked by: frombc
Hello frombc, The fan is continuously running, but at the same time the control analyzes multiple factors (temperature, humidity, etc) and in some cases may stop the fan. It should not be considered as a product failure. It's normal. Thank you for shopping at Sears. Have a great day.

Continuous drain does not operate; water just flows into bucket. Hose not kinked or plugged, drain is lower than unit. Clean filter signal lit; no debris to clean. Turned off, unplugged, redid filter, rested, restarted, no change. Owned less than 1 month.
