Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Softner Bought it couple of weeks ago. It is working excellent and water quality is superb. We used to have Kenmore 400 which lasted 12 years. The quality of water compared to my old Kenmore 400 is substantially better using this 800. We are a big family and the recharge last really longer compared to my old water softener. I would recommend this to everyone. It is little expensive but worths the price!!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far so good! Seems like it cleared up our iron problem. We've only had it installed for a couple weeks but we haven't been getting the orange colour in the toilet! YAY! Hopefully this is a permanent fix!

how much water does the softener use per regeneration on average? how much time does it take to regenerate on average? How much salt does it use per regeneration?

Asked by: Mag321
Hello Mag321, 1. Amount of water used per regeneration – approximately 22 gallons 2. Time it takes to regenerate is 93 – 124 minutes 3. Amount of salt used per regeneration is not a solid number. This will vary depending on the amount of RESIN that needs to be cleaned. Remember, Kenmore units use DEMAND Initiated Regeneration meaning the system will monitor current, past and future water usage and determine when it needs to regenerate. It is rare for the entire unit to clean the resin bed 100%. Depending on the amount of resin needing to be cleaned since the last regeneration will average about 2.3 pounds of salt per 5,090 grains that needs to be cleaned. This particular softener is rated at 45,000 grains. There is no average amount of salt that can be used, only because the amount of salt varies depending on how much resin has been used up. If you have further questions, please call the Kenmore Water Line 1-800-426-9345 for more information. Thank you for shopping at Sears. Have a great day.
