Item 73425 is a 50 U.S. gallon capacity tank with a 40,000 Btu/Hr input that yields a recovery of 44 gallons per hour. This model has 1 inch of foam insulation and a diameter of 20 inches.
Item 73426 is also a 50 U.S. gallon capacity tank but with a 50,000 Btu/Hr input. It has a recovery capability of 53 gallons per hour. This model has 2 inches of foam insulation and a diameter of 22 inches.
Both the 73425 and 73426 are covered by a 9-year tank leak warranty and a 6-year parts warranty.

Currently both Power Vent water heaters available from Sears Canada, Items 73425 and 73426, have an Energy Factor (EF) of 0.65 and unfortunately do not meet the new, more stringent 0.67 minimum EF required ENERGY STAR. Those new ENERGY STAR requirements became effective in October, 2010. These models still however, comply with the Energy Efficiency Standards of British Columbia. New ENERGY STAR qualified Power Vent water heaters are currently being certifed and will be available for sale by Sears Canada in a few months.

What's the diff betw. both power vent 50 gal models 424273426 and 424273425? Do you have the full specs of both units? Does Sears currently carry any power vent heater that are Energy star qualified?
How much does Sears charge for installation of the above water heater? Do you offer free delivery and removal? Do Sears retail stores have this model in stock and on display or do I have to visit specialty stores? Are these good water heaters?

Item 73425 is a 50 U.S. gallon capacity tank with an input of 40,000 Btu/Hr. that yields a recovery of 44 gallons per hour. This model is constructed with 1 inch of foam insulation and has a diameter of 20 inches.
Item 73426 is also a 50-gallon capacity tank but has an input of 50,000 Btu/Hr yielding 53 gallons per hour recovery. The 73426 model has 2 inches of foam insulation and a diameter of 22 inches.
Both of these models have an EF (Energy Factor) of 0.65. Unfortunately, they are no longer ENERGY STAR qualified. ENERGY STAR raised its minimum EF last October from 0.62 to 0.67.
For information regarding installation, delivery and removal I would suggest contacting your local Sears retail store. I'm sure they could provide that assistance.

I believe there is Maintenance Agreement available for this product that will cover labour for the term of the agreement. These water heaters come with a 9-year warranty against tank leaks and a 6-year parts warranty. Sears also covers labour for the first year of installation.

gas supply line size

Our current gas heater is 40,000BTU. If I install the Kenmore MD Power Miser 9 Power Vent which is a 50,00 BTU unit, will I need a larger supply line?

The 50,000 Btu/Hr heater requires only a 1/2" gas supply line, just like the 40,000 Btu/Hr model. The minimum inlet gas pressure entering the gas valve for both models is 5" W.C. (That's 5" of Water Column pressure.)

Mr. Brightguy,
Maximulm allowable flue temperatures according to the CSA test standards is 480Â° F plus room temperature. Realize, of course, that this is the temperature of the gases coming immediately out of the heater's internal flue pipe before any dilution air is mixed in. For the Power Vent heaters that utilize PVC vent pipe, CSA (Canadian Standards Association) mandates a test called Heat Deflection. This is to assure the diluted vent gas temperatures do not exceed the capabilities of the vent material. Test results on the 50,000 Btu/Hr power vent water heater showed an average diluted vent temperature of 139Â° F which is well below the 157Â° F allowable temperature for Schedule 40 PVC pipe.
