3rd time, not a charm

I have had this disposer for approximately 1 year now and the inside is completely rusted. Also the ring in my sink is beginning to rust! I'm worried it is only a matter of time before it stops working:(
This is confusing because I had this exact same disposer in my previous two houses, and each house I lived in for over 4 years and the disposer did not rust at all during those times.
Must have changed manufacturers?

Pros:Â Attractive design

Cons:Â Poor quality, rust

Newly installed, my granddaughter accidently put banana peel in which is a no no! Overflow but all was resolved and it is working great, Just be careful not to put things in that are not supposed to go in

We had the Kenmore 1/2 HP disposal installed which had the threaded discharge tube , it is wore out, so we got the 1 HP Kenmore disposal and it has the bolted discharge tube. Is there any way to make the bolted into a threaded so we don't have to change our plumbing?

Unfortunately, there is no way to change the bolted discharge tube into a threaded discharge. You will need to switch out your plumbing.

I installed a Kenmore garburator and it worked originally but when I changed the switch on the wall now it just hums and won't turn. I checked to make sure it wasn't jammed and it turns ealily. Any ideas of why this would be?

Hello,

Our buyers have indicated the following:

All of our disposers do not come with the power cord. Customers may purchase separately or choose to hard wire the disposer directly (no plug). Also, if the unit is being replaced then the customer will most likely re-use their existing cord.

For continuous feed models customers may purchase the SinkTop Switch or a standard light/wall switch.

The SinkTop Switch eliminates the need for additional electrical work (to install the wall switch) as the disposer plugs directly into the SinkTop power box and then the box plugs into a standard grounded outlet. I would recommend that if a customer is interested in the SinkTop switch that they also purchase the power cord if it is a first time install.

Replacement model

I have a 2001, Kenmore Food Waste Disposer model #175.0912 that just failed and need to replace it. Can you confirm which new Kenmore model I will need to replace it with. Thank you for your help. To ensure no plumbing modification are required the new model will need to be 6 7/8 inch (from chart installation manual) from the top of the machine to the centerline of the discharge pipe. Can someone confirm this dimension also. Sending me a drawing with dimensions of the new models would be the easiest. Thank you for your help. I look forward to replacing our Kenmore.

Our supplier has indicated that the KenmoreÂ®/MD Continuous-Feed Food Disposer, Model # 175.50912 offered on this page, uses the same base assembly that was used on Model 175.0912 so all the rough-ins should be the same. Please view the attached diagram for dimensions.
