Very happy with this, with one exception.

Nice, solid little machine. Takes care of all my basement moisture.

Just one problem: the container fits too tightly and is very hard to slide back in. I used to have to hit it, but now I've sprayed the sides with silicone spray and it's much better.

Length of power cord

We have the 35 pint model (Item #: 423 025 011 10) and find the power cord to be rather short.
1) Is the power cord longer on the 50 pint model?
2) The instructions say in the section on safety (p 5) "Do not modify power cord length". Does this mean that one cannot safely use an extension cord with it, even if it is a heavy-duty one?

The power cord is the same length on all models that we produce for Kenmore. We cannot recommend the use of an extension cord. That would be the decision of the user.
