Great Humidifier

This humidifier is excellent. It provides enough humidity for our basement and upstairs. We have a split level house and it sits on a stair well between the two floors. Also have a wood burning stove and since we got this humidifier we have had no more dry skin or bleeding noses. The filter is costly but easy to find at Sears not like some other makes.

Pros:Â Energy efficient, Lightweight, Quiet, Effective

At first you don't suceed, try again

The first unit that came didn't work and we needed to replace. Which was no problem. The second one works great. Unit is very quite but i don't find that the humidity cirulates through the house that well. You do need to fill bottle on regular basis. Usually twice a day.

Pros:Â Quiet

Cons:Â fill bottle twice a day, does not circulate humidity well

Quiet humiidfier

I replaced my decade old Kenmore humidifier with this model and I find it quiet and efficient. Although the re-fill container is a little more awkward to use I soon got used to it. The digital read-out seems accurate when compared to my humidity gauge on my wall, and I find it to be quieter than my previous model. The jury is out on replacement filter cost, but I've always had good luck with a CLR wash from time to time. The secret is to make sure you completely clean out everything before storing this away for the summer and have a spare filter on hand.

Works great - quiet and simple to use

Humidifies my 1000sq ft apartment very well. It can easily bring the humidity to greater than 50% if so desired. Easy to use and maintain. I refill it every other day and clean it with bleach every two weeks. My only complaint: filters are a bit pricey and need to be changed regularly (~2months). I give it four stars because my first unit had a problem with the display but this didn't affect its operation. I replaced it recently under warranty. The new unit works great.

Best for it's price range

I've tested (owned) over 5 different portable humidifiers (honeywel, sunbeam... including ultrasonic ones.

For the baby's room (kid), this one is by far the best one. This is a cool air humidifier by the way.
It doesn't leak, it has a humdistat which check the humidity level of the room and automaticaly starts the humidifer in order to keep the room (near) the desired humidity level (even if youre not home). In other words, you don't have to worry about turning on or off the unit. As long you refill the water tank regularly, you should be fine.

The antibacteria filter is slighly expensive and also needs to be replaced once in a while.

Pros:Â Lightweight, Quiet, Effective

this is neither. in this air flows through the wet filter/wick and picks up moisture.

warm is better but requires more maintenance and costs more over the long run. so depends.

Our buyers have indicated that all "console" humidifiers are cool moisture. They pass air across a membrane, typically a wick/filter, which then adds moisture to the air. A warm moisture humidifier uses steam to add moisture to the air. Which one of these is "best" is subjective, depending on a person's needs.

Further to our previous reply, please be advised that if you are using "hard" water, the wicks will not last as long. Minerals tend to build up quicker with hard water.

A warm moisture humidifier may be more beneficial in your case. If you have a central air system, you may want to turn the fan on and leave it running while the humidifier is operating to allow moisture to move throughout your home. This cool moisture humidifier is designed for large areas and should still work, but it may take a little longer to notice a major improvement in the humidity of your house.

Smaller units for each floor would be a better choice.

Air flow is not always constant between floors, so you might find that if one unit is used that only one floor has increased humidity, while the other floor has no change.
