Dual action bikes are aptly named, as they give you both an upper and lower body workout.
There are handles that move independently - much like an elliptical machine. It's a good workout, but a bit tough for beginners.
You can also get dual action bikes that allow you to adjust the machine to create an arm-pedaling workout. It's usually fairly difficult to make the adjustments. It's also two separate exercises, which create a longer workout. Most people aren't as likely to keep up such a routine.
Exercise bikes have the capability of having adjustable resistance and this is achieved either through a tension belt or through magnetic resistance. A magnetic resistance bike utilizes the principals of magnetism and the ability of a magnet to repel and attract. By controlling an electrical current through the magnet, the rider is able to vary the resistance of a flywheel in the magnets field. Magnetic resistance exercise bikes are far more superior as compared with the tension belt driven exercise bikes as the magnetic resistance exercise bike is more consistent as well as operates quietly.
