It's not deluxe, but it works

You are getting what you pay for here. It's not a super duper gate, but it gets the job done for us.

We have two of these gates now and they successfully keep our toddler out of our kitchen and our study. Since it's just press fit, we step over it when the little one is around and take it off when she isn't. That's a bit annoying, but easy to do and we can move it to other doors in the house when we need to.

It's not a super-strong gate, and if she worked hard at it, our toddler could push it out (she couldn't when she was younger though). But she doesn't often try - she knows that when the gate is up, she's not getting in. I certainly wouldn't use it for top of the stairs, but otherwise it does what it needs to.

We needed to read the instructions to make sense of the set up the first time, but after that, setup was easy.

Pros:Â Easy setup, inexpensive

My son is 2 1/2 and he tries to hop over this gate but he can't and he is very high energy. My 6 year old daughter still has trouble getting over it :) It's worth it for the price!

My 16mo son can open this gate!

I have had this gate for a while now it was fine when my son was toddling and learning to walk. But when my son was 16 months old when he learned to lean over and open the gate himself. My son is an average sized boy. We even tried to raise it 3-4 inches off the ground but he can either squeeze under or lean over and open. Buy a gate that is taller than this one.

Pros:Â Easy setup

Cons:Â Not durable, easy open

Is it approved for top of stair use? And is it hardware-mounted or pressure mounted?

The product description does not answer basic safety questions that parents require (is it safe for use at the top of stairs and is it hardware mounted?)

This mesh gate is not ment to be used for the top of the stairs. Also this gate is pressure mounted.
