Delonghi 30 pint dehumidifier

We bought 2 of these humidifiers, one for downstairs & one for upstairs. We chose them over others that were available because of the pump feature & because we had read that they were quieter than most. We were completely satisfied by both features. The pump feature will even pump the water up if you don't have a floor drain as was the case for us & the units aren't any more noisy than a fan running on high would be. We typical don't run ours at night because we like to open our windows at night & that would be defeating the purpose! The only down side is that it does exhaust enough heat to heat the spot in the room where it is running to a higher temp than the rest of the room.

Pros:Â Energy efficient, Quiet, Effective

Cons:Â small amount of heat from exhaust

Hello PistolPete,

The Delonghi 30 Pint Dehumidifier comes with two hoses: up to 16â feet (continuously through the worry-free pump function) and a 3â foot hose (passively). The sq. ft. area coverage is up to 1600 sq. ft. The warranty is 2 years parts & service, plus 4 years on internal system. This unit is 47/42 Decibels High/Low.

Does it turn off?

When the dehumidifier reaches the desired humidity level (and the bucket is not full) do both the fan and compressor turn off? It seems that most current dehumidifiers run the fan continuously even when the humidity level drops below the desired value... this is not very energy efficient and calls into question the value of an "energy star" rating.

As per the manual, when the dehumidifier reaches the desired humidity level, the compressor will turn off, but the fan will stay on operating at minimum speed.

I went by the previous answer and drove 55 miles and bought one, now I have to return it as only the compressor will shut off and the fan will run contiuously as discribed on page 7 of the instruction manual

Description is not clear

I can only assume by the one bullet description and by the questions about the pump that this unit, does in fact, have a pump.

If that is the case, why is the product description so vague in mentioning the pump?
It has:

-Water removal option: manual empty bucket, gravity drain
and then:
-Bucketless (pump)
Shouldn't these be on the same line ie: three methods of water removal?

I only ask because I don't want any surprises and find out the unit does not have a pump.

Am I correct that if the pump fails or becomes blocked, that this unit will overflow into the regular bucket just like the Kenmore pump models do? Is this the replacement to the Kenmore pump dehumidifier?

We just installed 2 of these units & they do have pumps which seem to be very efficient. We haven't got a convenient floor drain to go to so we drilled a small hole for the hose thru the wall to the outside for the one upstairs & fed the hose for the downstairs one up to the main floor & out thru the dryer vent. It comes with 16' of hose to make this possible & it doesn't seem to have any problems pumping the water up!

I'm confused. I want a dehumidifier for a small bedroom. I don't want to run a long hose down the hall to a bathroom, or out a window, to drain. I just want it to fill the bucket with water, which I'm happy to empty manually, and to shut itself off if it starts to overfill before I catch it. Like the way portable air-conditioners work. Is that possible with this model?
