Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks better than the picture. The brackets were easy to install. Due to the wide expanse I required, the rod was a two-person job. I would have given a five star rating if two parts of the corner assemblies hadn't broken and I had to glue them together.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks good but instructions could be misleading Got the curtain rod for the bay window in my study. The rod looks great. The only thing is that the instructions which comes with it is misleading. You are probably better off not reading it since it is not difficult to put together. I will most likely buy another one for the dinning room. I think it is one of the best value bay window rod out there.

Use only 2 pieces?

Can just the center rod and ONE side rod be used?
Asked by: Hobbitz
Hello Hobbitz, Our suplier has advised that there is no reason at all that all three rods, included in the Sahara Bay Window Curtain Rod Set- Crown Style, need to be used - using two should be just fine. You will be left with a few leftover parts (two brackets and one elbow along with the extra rod) but other than that, this should be fine. Thank you for shopping at Sears and have a great day!

Rod pockets

Will the whole home shear panels with 1 1/2 in. rod pockets fit easily over this rod?
Asked by: rayman
Hello rayman, The rod has a 1 3/8" pole diam. therefore these panels would be too tight for this rod. Thank you for choosing Sears.

Shorten (cut) rod ends

Can you shorten the length of the ends? My end windows are only 14 inches. I can tell from the picture that you can't shorten the middle rod but wondering if you can a few inches off each end and reattach the finial so it fits my space better. Thank you
Asked by: Lionscale
Hello Lionscale, This would be possible - not entirely easy, but possible. Each of the side sections is composed of two rods, one inside of the other to allow adjustment of length. In order to properly cut the poles, you would need to cut BOTH poles down, not just one (it makes more sense to cut and use only one, buit due to the configuration of the elbows, you do need both sizes.) We would suggest: - Re-measure the window, make sure of the size you need. (Just to be sure) - You indicated you need 14" - I would suggest cutting each side of the pole to 9 or 10" in length to keep a good overlap inside the poles for strength. There is a plastic ferial between the rods - make sure when cutting the outer rod, you cut so that the ferial is kept on the "good" rod you plan to use, rather than the scrap piece. A hacksaw can be used, and you should file off any burrs left over or they'll scratch the rod or interfere with the elbow. The rest of the installation would follow the same as the instructions. Thank you for choosing Sears and have a great day!

Rod Joints

I have a very small area of wall between each of my bay windows to install brackets. If the brackets are too close together the curtains will not cover the window frame. Would this rod work for me?
Asked by: bertrali
Hello Bertrali, Without knowing the exact measurement of wall space between windows, this can't be completely answered, but as it is suggested to mount a bracket on each side of the elbow (to ensure a secure hold on both sides) the total amount of wall space required would be about 4 to 5 inches total - the brackets take up approximately 1" each, and the elbow will need about 2" between them. Thank you for shopping Sears.

Hanging sheers and panels

am I able to hang sheers and panels on this rod together?
Asked by: abd123
Hello Abd123, As this set includes only one rod, hanging sheers and panels would not work properly. Thank you for shopping Sears.

mounting

can this be mounted from ceiling. What are the mounting brackets and how many?
Asked by:
Hello, This set is not designed for ceiling mount and includes only wall mount brackets. There would be two brackets for each of the "outside" sections, and three for the "inside". One alternative that could be considered would be Sears item # 98027, which is a channel track system specifically designed for ceiling mounting. The one drawback is that 98027 is a straight set only - it does not include elbows. Thank you for shopping Sears.
