Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice value record player Bought this as a basement accessory. It is a low-price record player but the sound is reasonable. The software is the free version of Audacity and works okay. You might need other s/w to change the created wav files to MP3. One drawback is the turntable speed variance. At one point I found the music changing pitch because the turntable was slowing down. I shut the unit off, then spun the table a bit, and then re-tried. It seemed to, after a few minutes, return to normal speed and no further complaints as of yet. Note that there is no automatic tone-arm return and you likely have to remove the lid when playing LPs. A very cute product. Not a replacement for a quality turntable, but a great toy for playing a few records and perhaps creating some wav files. Did I mention it is portable? Not battery-powered for true mobility, but small and easy to carry so you can take it over to a friend's house or any parking lot with a plug-in :) Disclosure: I previously owned a Crosley higher-end unit which had a turntable, CD player, cassette deck, and radio. It allowed you to burn records directly to CD. This unit survived for a few years (3-4) before each and every function died one by one. The new record player is also a replacement for that - and I hope it lasts longer than the higher priced multi-function model. Time for me to read the exciting new novel "Breakaway:1977" while listening to my LP soundtrack for the science fiction TV show "Space: 1999". What will you do while listening to old (or new!) LPs on the Crosley Collegiate?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Value, however... The unit is compact and has nice features and sound, however, it is definitely NOT 50 watts as the description says. I believe it's 5 watts. It would also be nice if had proper speaker outputs. All said and done though, it's a good little unit for the money.

aux jack

does this model have an auxiliary jack or can you add speakers?
Asked by:
No; there is no Aux Out. The Colleigate has Aux In only. However, there is a headphone jack. You may be able to hook up small speakers to the headphone jack, but I suspect it is unlikely they will match the onboard speaker. Note that if you want to play via your computer, just record the LPs to a wav file on your computer and play from there, assuming your computer has speakers. Also, you can then burn a disk and play on any CD player with speakers.
