craftsman 10 in radial arm saw

i bought this saw in nov. 2011 very time consuming to set up and when cutting a right hand 45 degreeit is ok but when you try to cut a 45 on left side of saw table is too small tryed everything i know to find some answers but only got the run a round would not reconmend to buy this saw very unhappy withcraftsman and sears W.L.

So far we have spent about 6 hours on the setup and repair of this tool, and we are not close to being able to run it yet to find how well it will work. The front lock alignment pin device for the motor pivot was totally siezed in its bore. This then required disassembly of the front pivot assembly, and ultimately dropping the whole motor off its sliding rack in order to make the space to drive the siezed pin out the bottom of the bore. The tip off to the pin being siezed was when we reached to point in the instructions for leveling the wood panels to the table / saw head. The little knob on the front you turn to the left to raise the lock pin twisted off in my hand. An hour to remove everything, another half hour to drill the broken piece out of the pin, then cleanup and polish the pin to fit the bore, drill and tap the centre of the lever to reattach it to the pin, dig out the red locktite to keep it in place, etc. Not too impressed with this deal so far. Would have returned it at the point of things not working, but the tool has sat for over a year in the box while I tried to make a day to set it up and put it to work. Also seems to be too much play in the slide bearings, even after adjusting the bearings to their guide rail. Not impresed so far.

i just bought the saw and spent 5 hours setting it up. when the saw was set up i found it to be completly accurate so to the point that i can cut a piece of plywood at a perfect 90 leaving only 2 light marks on the table from start to finish. Great saw.

Very Satisfied Excellent Saw for the Money

I purchased this saw in July 2008 based on my good experince with an old Craftman Radial Arm Saw. The saw works well has more then enough power to do whatever I need as a non professional but intermediate home woodworker. I have only had one frustration with the saw and that is, set-up of the saw, to get it to cut perfectly sqaure after assembly & set-up. The saw is square but took alot of fiddling to get it that way. I think that the stand has alot to do with it being somewhat difficult to get it squared up. Otherwise very good value for the money and I would recomend it.

I like using the craftman radial arm saw. I feel safe using it for vertical cuts. I also use it to make dado joints. Our present motor of 8 years needs replacing, so we are looking to purchase this upgraded model.

Hello,

Our buyers have sent the following information:

Our technical people have agreed that an 8" stacking or 8" wobble dado can be used with this radial arm saw, however, the customer must be very careful on what type of dada blade they use as far as width. Usually a 13/16" wide blade can be used with the guard supplied, but some dado blades are wider and the guard supplied with the saw is too narrow. They sell a special guard through parts and service. Casters for Radial Arm Table Saw

I have a Craftsman Radial Saw I purchased in roughly 1977. The saw is on a metal stand, but I'd like to get casters for the stand so I can move it out from the wall more easily. I know there used to be a caster set you could buy seperately. Are they still available and can you tell me what the item is to order and how much?
