Q:Â
Can this drill use a regular NiCad replacement battery or does it have to use the lithium battery?

The 19.2 volt lithium and nicad batteries are interchangeable but they are not necessarily interchangeable on the chargers. You can't put a 19.2V lithium battery on one of the older chargers meant for a 19.2V NiCad. They have different charging parameters. There is a newer charger out that I believe can take either lithium or nicad. It's just money. :-) If you are a contractor with a number of 19.2V Craftsman tools it may be a good idea to buy one of the newer chargers to deal with the mix-n-match problem on the job site.
