Disappointed with trimming performance

Easy to prepare for first use. Engine relatively easy to start. Followed instructions for starting and always starts on 3rd pull. My motivation for purchasing was the 4 cycle engine (no mixed gas) , engine HP and ability to add attachments. Realizing the unit was heavier (when I purchased it) I was hopeful that this larger, more expensive model would out perform other machines. After using it I would go back to my small 2cycle trimmer with auto trim feed. It does just as good a job and was 1/3 the cost. I also purchased the bush cutter attachment, but was also dissappointed with the perfermance of the cutting head. I found that the standard trimmer head did pretty much the same job.

Pros:Â Easy setup, starts 3rd pull, can add attachements

Cons:Â heavy to use, string does not last for 1 tank of gas, engine ist thirsty

Put it all together. WON'T RUN

How frustrating, Has all these easy start feature's. No choke system on it other than cold weather. Assembly easy. After the last hour I've given up. Starts fine, haven't even trimmed anything. Soon as engage throttle it dies out. Check what I could from the manual, There is nothing to adjust. idle screw not touching that as it does idle, Unit just will not accelerate. Usually stalls out.

Cons:Â won't run

Hey there,

You can get accessories for this trimmer but they may only be available by going to the U.S. or purchasing online at Sears.com. not sure about a gass roller or aerator (never looked into it) but there is an edger. Take a look.

Trimmer replacement cord

I have a Craftsman/MD 14" straight shaft gas trimmer, which came with a package of medium and large weed-eating cords. Now I have used up most of them and want to buy more, but I do not see them listed on-line. The item numbers on the package are 71 51015 for the medium (grass) cords and 71 51016 for the heavy (weed) cords. Please tell me how I can order replacement cords. Thank you
