you can use it for air tools but you will have to wait for the pressure to build up as the cfm on this compressor is decent for a unit of its size but not enough for most air tools to operate continuously. check your tools operatores booklet to see what cfm is required.

Hi,
I just purchased this compressor, the upright or vertical model. I chose this one for a couple of reasons over the horizontal model, 1. smaller footprint, and 2. because it was oilless I assumed that I could lay it down for transport. The package is waiting at my Sears outlet for me to retrieve, however the box says it shouldnt be tipped!
The question is Can I lay it on its side to transport? and are there any risks in doing so?

Hello cheech,

Please see the response from our supplier with regards to your inquiry.

We do not recommend tipping because it can fall and lead to broken or damaged pump/motor assemblies. The same issue applies to transporting on its side. The customer needs to understand that a vertical compressor, whether oil free or oil lube, should not be placed on its side for any extended length of time as it is not built to withstand the bumping and throwing around that can accompany transporting.

In the case of the CRAFTSMAN 33-gallon Vertical Tank Style Air Compressor, we are warning that breakage can occur, not leakage.
