Great Little Tractor

I've put 25 hours on since May. Easy to start, tons of power. The hydrostatic transmission is intuitive and easy to use. The tight turn feature is a real asset, saves you from backing up in tight places. Gas consumption is a little on the high side, but I guess that is part and parcel of a 22 HP machine

Pros:Â Good quality

Cons:Â burns quite a bit of gas

Happy with Tractor

Purchased this style of tractor, different engine though 21hp single cylinder. Got a great deal on tractor. Very happy with how it runs and mows. Hydrostatic drive on the fender, not gas pedal design, like that feature as well. Biggest problem is hood doesn't fit good and has no latches to hold down. Hood bounces all over the place especially in rough ground, and down hills. Had to buy big ugly hood latches from princess auto to hold hood in place. Service man said that was the only fix. Would be 5 stars if not for hood problem.

Hard starting

great little tractor, but in the 9 times I've used it since purchasing it in Fall of 2009, I've had to run the battery dead, recharge then run the starter for several minutes, (often with the charger engaged a a booster) to get it running. with or without choke, fuel seems to be very slow to reach the Carb? I've used older 2 cylinder tractors with one spark plug removed that started easier than this thing. Once it's running and warms up, it's good for the day. Leave it a day or a week or two til needed again and (Find the Charger) you're gonna need it! Checking around the Web, this is a common problem with this tractor? takes the little fun of lawn maintenance out of the day.

Pros:Â cuts grass well

Cons:Â a bear to start !

42" 22 HP Sears Hydro static drive

I found the total packadge from Sears was good for most any thing. Snow removal, cutting grass, hauling light loads on trailers.

Possatives : complete line of accessories to fit to the tracter and parts easy to order.
Overall the use of this machine is good for me in that I can use it for a lot of different tasks around the acreadge. Hydrostatic drive is a plus and easier to use. It's tight turning ability was needed of a slight ajustment by me and now it eally turns nicly around very tight radei and dosn't burn the lawn in the proccess. It means a machine for all 4 season usadge.

Negatives : that the cutting blades are only 1/8" thick and aren't the 1/4" commercial type blade that would be a lot better so that they would be a lot more resiliant to damges from tree roots... not for any lawn cutter but it happens. My old commercial mower had the 1/4" blades and there was no problems there. It seams that I can only find this one concern as a problem. If this were upgraded then I couldn't find much at all at fault.

After using it for 3 years now it is too light for really serious work as the trans is a little weak... that's because I overlaoded it for winter times to be able to push a lot of snow with the blade on. This may be due to the lack of traction as this is lighter than the 1000 LB + commercial tracktor which was half again bigger.

Overall I am happy with it and so far it will work with the recomended loads.

One more item is the electric deflecter( this is an item I haven't been able to track down yet ) for the snow blower attachment, it isn't in the price catalaue so whay list it? I need one so where do I find one.( which does a really great job, even for that day when I went through 5' snow drifts.) It works better than the plow but the plow works better when the snow is wet and works good for light earth moving/light land scaping choures once in a while. The Hydrostatic trans needs a bit more top speed and more durability for my purpossess as I do work for other poeple from time to time.

I rate this a 9 out of 10 because the price was right and with the available attacments it seams to work well that all attachmnets are easily hooked up and disconected. And I am semi crippled.

I have worked commercialy in the past but wouldn't recomend this for commercial work, HOME YES !!!!

sears has made a good home use garden tracktor here.

Yes it will. There are two ignition settings, the default setting will cut the engine if the mowing deck is engaged and the reverse pedal is depressed. The second setting allows for reversing with the deck engaged.

You should not have to raise the deck to back up, as long as your intention is to mow in reverse. If it is simply to back up and move to a different area of the lawn/garden, it is advised that you raise the deck before doing so.

None of current Sears tractor has a lap belt, neither a roll bar. They all come with a security in the seat. If the rider gets up the seat, the motor stops. They also have a reverse mowing security. You need to activate the reverse mowing mode each time you need to mow in reverse. I can't really recommend a model since I don't know your needs.

I have a small book showing all your Craftsman /Sears Riding Equipment & attachments 2011 . in back cover ,letf bottom corner number 10052-April 2011.
On page ten lawn series models 60101 and model 60102 shows that they have Cruise Control. I have the model 60101 and I can't find the cruise control and I can't get help inregards with the kit for it. So why is it not installed in this unit as it says and what is the part number fot the cruise control kit for this unit model 60101 or 60102.
