Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great residential-use snowblower We bought this snowblower because we live on a large corner lot with a LOT of heavily-trafficked sidewalk, and our blower-pack wasn't cutting it during heavier snowfalls. The first snowfall we had this year was drifted and very tough to clear, but the new snowblower had NO problems at all! My husband enjoys using it so much he often clears our neighbours' walks, too!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from CRAFTSMAN®/MD 22 205cc Snow blower Started with one pull right out of the box. But having electric start is like having insurance. Easy to handle and quick chute adjustment as awesome. The paddles lick the snow clean no need to touch up with a broom or shovel.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from What more do you need I did much looking at many different brands that were all comparable. It was down to this and the Toro for the same amount of options. The selling feature for me was the price of this machine, the options, torque and size verses all the others. I have a fairly large 5 car driveway and it drifts alot where I live. This thing loves the snow, the deeper, the better it works. I have no negative comments except why I gave it a 4 star instead of 5 was because as someone else pointed out, there is blowback at your feet, my neighbors Toro does not do this, it cleans the sidewalk like you shoveled it. I took a piece of heavy floor mat, drilled some holes in it and tie wrapped it to the axle, solved that blow back issue very quickly. I looked at some smaller two stage machiness as well, but just too heavy and clumsy to move around. The agility and power of this unit are all anyone needs in the city. It is a little clunky at first as the paddle tries to propell the unit forward, but that tones down after a few uses and the paddle wears a bit. Other then these couple of items, this is all the snow blower you will ever need. Starts great, and could not be happier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent snowblower The perfect snowblower for a city driveway. It picks up the snow and throws it. No problem at all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent machine at a good price. We purchased this snoblower on a great sale. We had chosen it because of the excellent reviews and it did not disappoint. It has plenty of power to do the job and has never struggled. It's compact enough that I can get it up on the deck without my husband's help and has an electric start, so there are no issues there either. Would highly recommend this machine.

712 552 060 Craftsman single-stage snowblower

Is this machine self propelled?
Asked by: Star1
Kinda/sorta The auger does pull it forward, sort of. But you wont be able to simply walk behind and steer. You have to actively handle it since an uneven surface will cause it to bounce around a bit.

CRAFTSMAN®/MD 22'' 205cc Single Stage Snow Blower THROWING DISTANCE

The Craftsman MD 22 inch 205 cc Single Stage Snowblower is on sale. HOW FAR DOES ITS SPECIFICATIONS SAY IT WILL THROW SNOW. I realize wind plays a factor, but how far would it throw say in a no wind situation.
Asked by: kev156
I'm in Calgary. My experience is that the snow conditions make all the difference in distance. Wet spring snow will go up to 30ft, but dry powder goes only about 10ft and often less. But because it has enough power, I just blow it forward onto the next swath and go over it again. It has no problem handling the extra layer

Is this suitable for a steep driveway?

We have a long steep driveway. Will the propelling action of this snowblower be suitable? We're worried about being able to push it back uphill.
Asked by: newtosnowblowers
My opinion for what its worth. My driveway is long and sloped, so is the sidewalk in front of my yard. I don't try to plow uphill, I just walk it back up and plow downslope. It just didn't really pull itself too much. On the other hand, its so light that its very easy to tilt back and walk.

Snowblower Strength

Hello, I do not have a large driveway (double laneway with 2 car lengths). I was wondering if this snowblower has the strength for a medium type snowfall . AND will it do the snow at the end of my driveway when a snowplow moves snow at the end of my driveway. Thanks...
Asked by: MovingSnow
Here is my opinion. I'm in my third winter in Calgary. My driveway is about 5-6 cars, plus 70ft of sidewalk. It has more than enough power for even the heavy spring snow we get. But doesn't throw it very far so I just throw it again and again till its off. As for the berm from the city plowing the streets, not really. I do use it for that since its better than shovelling, but I'm sweating and puffing by the end. I have to ram the machine into the berm and then back off since it will stall out. Doing that in little bites eventually take care of it. But that's when the berm is 1-2 feet high and with big icy lumps. If its just bit of powder, no problem

Snowblowe #71145206010 re: rubber auger

I notice in one of the reviews, he states the rubber auger cleans right down "like it is advertised". My question would be, how long would this rubber auger last if it is constantly rubbing on cement??? What does it cost to replace it??
Asked by:
This is my third winter with this machine (winter of 13/14) in Calgary and while it does show some wear, there appears to be very little. My driveway is big enough to park 5-6 cars and also have 70ft of sidewalk so it has had lots of use. But the plastic scraper bar was almost worn out in the first winter!!

stamped painted concrete snow blower

we live in Edmonton and get alot of snow. We recently poured colored stamped concrete that is not flat but has grade differences and some edges. Is this the right snpw blower for our new concrete or is another one better??
Asked by:
I have never used mine on any concrete with a patterned surface, just the standard city one. But when plowing the sidewalk, it jumps a bit when I go over each expansion joint so I would expect it to worse for you, especially if there are ridges along each pattern edge. I would borrow someone's single-stage unit and try it out first. The brand wouldn't matter since they all have the same basic design.

Roof Top Terrace

I have a roof top terrace in a condo which I need to shovel and keep clear of snow.. each winter the terrace gets pounded with snow and I am looking to invest in a snow removal... would this unit to good for that. or can you recommend a different unit. I am 5'10 and sometime the snow is knee deep
Asked by: ladybugsongs
I think it would depend on what sort of surface you have. If its uneven wood or 2x4's with wide gaps, the auger belts wont work too well, and would likely chew up the wood pretty fast. lso not good if you have to move the unit to and from the terrace. Its lighter than a 2 stage, but still too heavy to carry around. But it will have more than enough power to handle a foot of snow.
