IT NEEDS TO BE ASSEMBLED...NO WHERE IN THE ONLINE OR CATALOGUE ADVERTISEMENT DOES IT SAY SOME ASSEMBLING REQUIRED....NOW EXPLAIN TO ME A WOMAN WITH ARTHRITIS HOW I AM GOING TO ASSEMBLE IT.

Good value but watch oout for carburetor problems

I ourchased a 24" Craftsman snow blower with the same 208cc LCT Series engine in November of 2008. I used it a couple of times each winter (we have been lucky the last couple of years) but I definitely could not start it this year. I am an engineer with some experience with engines so I diagnosed the problem down to the caburetor. Although I failed to drain the gas from the carburetor last year, I was amazed to see that the carburetor's tank was covered by a "resin-type" coat probably from the plastic floater's material that disolved in the gas and totally clogged the carburetor's main jet when I tried to start the blower this year. The engine comes with a Huayi carburetor (made in China) that will cause problems if not drained at the end of each winter. As a sideline, the main jet could not be unscrewed which made the cleaning process more difficult and may also lead to having to buy a new carburetor in the long run.

Besides the carb problem the unit runs nicely and does the job with ease. I suggest you ask your Sears dealer to add a gas filter, which should be standard in the unit and may help keeping the blower running with less problems.

Hello canuckns,

Horse power numbers are not supplied by the manufacturer as they are not allowed to due to current laws.

That leaves torque, which is a measurement of "twisting force". CC's of engines have no direct relationship to torque.

There is no conversion chart of torque to HP as it is engine design that determines torque.
