Worst purchase ever

I bought this 20Gallon compressor in April, I finally opened the box this past weekend (a few months later), there seemed to be an air leak in the connector that connects the hose to the compressor, when I went to tighten with a wrench it snapped in 2 and the screw part remained in the compressor. Now I have to lug this huge thing back to Sears so they can send it off to repair it... I sure hope they honor their warranty! Im so annoyed with this unit right now!!!

wrote a positive review Nov.6/09. today that same decent product, fell apart, ( sounds like the piston has packed it in) under normal use

you might be able to paint a small car , but the cfm of this unit is not enough to keep up with the constant spraying of a paint gun. like I have said you might be able to paint a small car if you use an hvlp gun and take your time.

It states it is "oil free, maintenance free operation" yet it also says "induction oil lube" in the spec. Is the induction oil lube for tools or the compressor?
Where is the compressor made? What is warranty on compressor? What is the decibel rating when operating?

Our buyers have indicated that the CRAFTSMANÂ®/MD 20-gallon Vertical Tank Style Air Compressor is oil free and features nickel plated cylinder sleeves and permanent lube compression rings for years of maintenance free operation. The motor is an induction motor. The "induction lube" is a copy error and will be corrected. We apologize for any inconvenience. The compressor is made in China and is accompanied by a 1 year limited warranty.

Hello greasedonkey,

Our buyers have indicated that either hose diameter will be fine. Each hose type (i.e. rubber, pvc) has a different weight associated with it and depending on the application and length it could be quite cumbersome to move easily. There is a formula for pressure decreases over long runs of hose (which I believe is 5psi/100ft) so depending on the application and the required air supply for the air tool that will also be part of the decision. Either hose will be fine but obviously if you are using a tool that requires more air supply (i.e. Framing Nailer) a 1/2" hose will most likely be required, if you are using it for more DIY type applications a 3/8" hose will be adequate. Please note that there are connectors that are available for either hose type.
