Excellent product but online order needs approve!

Smartrider is excellent at small lawn. Save 2/3 of time to cut my lawn and just sit without pushing.
Sears need improve online order response. The confirmation email take long time and confusing buyer.

after ten years of pushing a mower I decided to purchase this "smart rider" . I have a 1/4 acre lot which is pretty straight forward to cut , not alot of obstacles . Own alot of other CRAFTSMAN power tools ( snowblower , gas powered hedge trimmer , electric weed trimmer , 10 yr. old push mower etc) and I expect to get many years of service from this latest purchase. FULLY Recommended!!!!!

Great Little Unit as long as your lawn is flat.

98% of my lawn cutting area is flat so this is a fine little unit to handle my lawn work. For any little hills like a shallow grade drainage gully running along the front of the property, or a small rise in the lawn to the back fence the unit is under powered and the tires are treaded well enough and I had lots of trouble ridding the unit out of the area and will not attempt it again. For the regular flat areas the unit has more that enough power for the job and mulched the lawn very nicely. Unit quality is very good. I would recommend for anyone with flat lawn areas, and not so much area that a larger unit would be better.

Pros:Â not too big., mulch gard included, fits through gates

Cons:Â could use more power, tires could be better

This machine works better on flats lawn because of the transmission. It can mow up to 15%, but the rubber disc is going to wear faster and need adjustment every 25 hours or so, and you need a technician to adjust the tension. This is not covered by the basic warranty that come with it.

You may need to see a Sears technician as some unit had a problem with the rubber grip on the handle. It prevents the button to move freely, and cause problem like yours. Newer unit had a different grip, as it, I think, cause some problems when they are not inserted all the way to the bottom.

Clutch problem

I went to my local Sears store to purchase this mower, and was told they had all been recalled due to clutch problems. Has this issue been resolved? Do they still have to be taken to a Sears technician every 25 hours for a clutch adjustment?

Canadian units were not affected by this recall. the adjustment needed is normal since it use a friction disc transmission. If your lawn is flat, you do not tow anything in the back, and use it for less than 1 1/2 hours to cut your grass, this machine will last a long time and you will may be not need adjustment at all. Otherwise, it is not a default but the disc will wear out faster than normal and need to see a technician.
