If your looking to enter digital SLR photography, this easy to handle, light wieght, Canon EOS Rebel T2i DSLR camera is probably the best value for a reasonable cost, and offers many professional EOS features !
It features an 18 Megapixel CMOS APS-C sensor, with a DIGIC 4 Image Processor, for high picture quality and processing speed, increased light sensitivity for low light photography with ISO speeds from 100 to 6400 (...expandable to 12800), and a single button advanced HD movie mode for recording full HD movies.
This Canon camera, is the best Rebel available, and is sure to satisfy beginners, or discriminating photographers with high image quality, and professional results !

Our supplier has provided the following response to your questions regarding the Canon EOS Rebel T2i EF-S 18-55 mm IS Digital SLR Camera Kit -

If you are referring to the image sensor - then no - the sensor only comes on when you are shooting a picture, HD video or operating the camera in Live View mode. In terms of the sensor life span, we do not disclose that specific information but most electronics are said to have a shelf life of around 10 years.
