So far, EXCELLENT!I spent a lot of time reviewing multi-temp kettles, and this was the one I chose. ALL kettles seemed to have good & bad reviews, and short of a manufacturer's defect I think that if you maintain it well, and keep it descaled, things will be fine. My old one was a (single-temp, stainless-steel) Cuisinart, warrantied for 3 years, and in spite of some bad reviews at the time, it worked perfectly for over 10 years. But I did not like some of the design choises in the new multi-temp Cuisinart modelâ¦. Time will tell with the Breville I choseâ¦.
I like the balance and secure feeling of the Breville kettle when you pour the water out; it just FEELS right. The buttons are safely out of the way on the base - where they should be - so they should last longer than the competitor's (buttons on the handle?? REALLY??). The water level indicator is crystal-clear, easy to read, and on BOTH sides of the kettle (competitor's was hidden UNDER the handleâ¦.) It has a sleeker profile than the competitor's, and seemed to be made of better-quality stainless steel.
And I like the slow-release lid on the Breville - it won't splash hot water over my hands when it's releasedâ¦.
The multi-temp controls offer excellent options, and now that I've used them I realize just how much I was burning coffee & how bitter delicate teas tasted from my old kettle, that did not have such options. I doesn't take too long for a full pot of water to come to the hottest boil temperature, and I like the fact that the wall plug on the cord is designed to be safely & easily pulled out (it has a heavy-duty, rounded "finger" loop on itâ¦.) There's no "cool-blue lights" inside it, but with the two clear water level indicators you can see perfectly fine (not that one really NEEDS to see inside a kettle, but heyâ¦you can!) This Breville kettle beat out 5 other competitors, and Im glad I choose it!

Poor buyExpensive and only has a 1 year warranty. Had mine a couple of years and it doesn't work anymore. Not worth the money.

Not working after 4 monthsI was willing to pay more for this kettle because I wanted a reliable appliance. After 4 months it no longer shuts off. It doesn't matter what temperature is selected, it will not shut off. Don't waste your money. I bought my inlaws a Kenmore kettle 3 years ago and it's still going strong. And it shuts itself off!

Worth the expense! This kettle is beautifully designed when it comes to both looks and function. It is sturdy stainless steel and is very aesthetically pleasing. Even the base has a stainless steel body. I LOVE that you can select five different heat settings and also the "hold temp" setting. When set to the highest setting, it sounds the signal soon after reaching a full, rolling boil. This not only saves energy but, is also very important when making tea, not to over-boil the water thereby boiling out too much oxygen from the water. The other settings are wonderful for green, oolong, and white teas as they should be steeped at a lower temperature. The kettle heats the water quickly and efficiently. It takes only about 2 1/2 minutes to boil 500mL and 6-7 minutes to boil 1.8L. I LOVE this kettle! I have not had the kettle for long however, so I can not say how it stands up over time to use but, it seems sturdy and well made and so far, I am very pleased with it.
