Flimsy Aluminum Shaft - Market Umbrella

This umbrella is very attractive. However, the 1st time there was a strong wind, the shaft buckled like a cheap pop can. The umbrella was in the closed position so this should not have happened. I have had other umbrellas where the wind caught them and knocked over the table, but never one where the shaft was so flimsy it buckled.

I couldn't be bothered returning the umbrella to Sears, so I inserted a steel pipe into the damaged shaft, managed to staighten it, and left the pipe in for reinforcement. I'm sure I could have had a replacement from Sears, but the next one would probably have been the same, so what would be the point?!
