I ordered two pairs of these for my husband a while back, as work pants for colder weather. Though he says they are both very comfortable, we noticed that the colour was not the only difference in them. The Espresso Brown ones have an independent, soft fleece-like, black lining. The Grey ones have a coating-style lining that is melded to the outside material (i.e., not an independent piece of material as a lining). Another reviewer mentioned the same thing, but the style / colours was reversed...
Having said that, the differences serve two purposes: my husband noticed that the grey ones seem to be more water-and-wind proof, and the espresso brown ones are thicker & slightly warmer but not as waterproof.
No matter how you slice it, they are an excellent purchase, they wash very well, and I've since purchased two more pairs.

These pants are Heavier & more clingy than the previous ones.
Changes have been made to the pant that i feel makes them heavier. Also i find these pants are very hard to keep up.
The belt loops are in the wrong place which causes the pants to sag or bunch on the sides. The belt loops are more towards the back of the pant. There is to much space between the rear loop & the side loop. Also due to the elastic waist the crotch of the pant sags/slides toward the knees. I'm constantly having to have them sewn due to splitting.I drive transport & am in and out of the truck constantly. If i forget to pull up the crotch of the pant getting in or out of the truck i split them. I've gone through several pairs of pants as a result.

Comments about Retreat®/MD 'Cold Weather' Lined Cargo Pants:

The cargo pants are very suitable to wear on cold winter days.
The outside is made of a water repellent nylon and the soft cotton polyester lining make them so warm and comfortable.
I also like the elasticised waistband for ease of movement.
These pants are great value for their very reasonable cost.

Comments about Retreat®/MD 'Cold Weather' Lined Cargo Pants:

I gave the lined cargo pants to my husband for Christmas and he just loves them. He normally has to wear long johns under his pants due to the cold here in Nfld but these lines pants eliminate that. He finds them comfortable and not bulky.

    Pros

    • warm & comfortable

    Cons

    • expresso colour pants very noisy fabric

    Best Uses

Comments about Retreat®/MD 'Cold Weather' Lined Cargo Pants:

I particularly like the black fleeced lined Cargo pants as the fleece is soft and a separate layer inside the pant. Excellent for winter activities or just cold days shovelling snow etc as the material repels the snow.
I didn't like the brown expresso colour pants as the lining was part of the pant as a one piece of fabric. They were very noisy to walk in because of the dense material so I returned them. Not sure about the other colours but if the fleece lining is a separate layer I would think they are good buy like the black pair.

          Hello britbond,

When measuring, waist is always measured first followed by the inseam. You may refer to our sizing guide at the link below:

Yes, the waist size is always stated first followed by inseam length. This would mean 38" waist and 30" inseam.

I purchased these pants for my husband Christmas 2012 and I dealt alot with zippers and textile in the past. I see no problem with the zipper, it appreas to be very strong...sometimes the zipper will break if the pants are a little tight fitted and that is normal because of the wearing issues
