great jacket but the zipper is continually getting stuck! So much so that most times I have to pull the jacket up over my head to take it off - very frustrating!

Great jacket at any price

I picked up this jacket as my son needed something warm for the cold winter days standing at the bus stop. This jacket is very warm and built to stand up to teenagers activities. It was actually too warm when the weather is above -5 so he just uses it on the days when it is below -5 or else he gets too hot in it and sweats. I was so impressed with it that I went back to Sears and picked up a second jacket for my second teenage son. Excellent Product! I might get a third for myself!

Tried and tested in -30C. Excellent jacket!

I bought the Alpinetek Down Bomber in size small for my 38" chest (read below why I chose small) January 2016 to replace a worn out competitor jacket. I love the look and isn't too bulky. I get people asking where I bought it after mistaking it for a more expensive competitor jacket.
The last few days in Winnipeg has been below -32C with windchill and wind at about 15 km/h. This jacket did not disappoint! I wore a long sleeve t shirt as my only layer and my body was warm even after spending half an hour outside standing around. Felt no wind or chill at the seams. The hood is very warm as well and the faux fur is full and fluffy (not nappy like lower quality jackets). The materials used and the stitching are solid. Melted snow beads off the jacket. The two lower pockets are lined with microfiber which is a nice touch for keeping hands warm. I find the jacket not overly puffy but it's not a lightweight either. Storm cuffs with thumb holes. Reflectors along the back and cuffs for added safety. The zipper is heavy duty and is covered by a flap with snap fasteners. The jacket comes with spare fasteners should any of them fail.

Fit is my only qualm with this line of jacket. I'm 5' 8", 160 lbs., 38" chest, with a 34 waist. Average to slim build. I wear medium in everything. I originally bought the "regular fit" in medium and tag says M (38 - 40) 40. The 40 signifies that the jacket is built for a 40" chest. I'm a 38" chest. It was comfy but a bit too much room around the shoulders and especially around the waist. Which I expected because its for a 40" chest. The jacket length went down to the bottom of my bum cheek. Arms are a tad long. There was a gap of 3-4" between my relatively flat stomach and the jacket (only wearing t shirt underneath). Not good for me on a windy day as all the cold air would blow up into the jacket. There is no cinch cord around the waist. None is needed considering the length of the jacket. I could wear a sweater or multiple layers underneath to fill the gap but I won't always want to do that. Besides, the jacket is warm enough as it is. All you need is a breathable base layer and sweater on the coldest Winnipeg days.
I went back to the store to try on the size small, the tag says, S (34 - 36) 36. Again, the jacket is built for a 36" chest. Like I said, I'm a 38". The jacket fit me a lot better than the medium. Feels fantastic. Arms are good length maybe a smidge short. There is only a 1" gap between my stomach and jacket. It's a "slimmer" fit (I prefer) but still enough room to fit a t shirt and sweater underneath. The length is about 1 1/2" shorter than the medium but still covers most of my butt. It's like wearing a duvet comforter. It's that comfortable. Fully zipped is comfortable also. Bought the small.

Conclusion: By far the warmest jacket I have ever owned. I live in Winnipeg where temps in Jan and Feb consistently feel like -25C or colder and I wear t shirts under it! Meets and/or surpasses other brand names I've owned in quality. Looks great, is comfortable and functional. Can't beat the value of the jacket especially when it's on sale. Even when it's not on sale it's still a great value. I bought the crimson colour. Love it. Want to buy Charcoal in near future. My only recommendation to the Alpinetek company is to manufacture 38" as their medium and re-tag the current medium 40" to a large. A 38" would be my ideal fit.
First photo is small crimson and second is medium crimson. Third is small charcoal and fourth is medium charcoal. It might not seem like it but the medium was a little too roomy for me.

Recommended Purchase!

Purchased this jacket during the half price Black Friday Sale. Fantastic value! Unlike a traditional "bomber-style" jacket, this one actually comes down a bit further so that it does not ride up when you sit down. It is very warm, but not overly bulky.

Fit is true to size. I am 5'7" (150lbs) and purchased the Medium (10/12) and have room for a sweatshirt under it. The only part I find a bit odd is the sleeves. The inner black ribbing comes down to the wrist, and has a thumb hole. The positioning is odd so that if I did use the thumb hole, it pulls the sleeve too tight. The coloured sleeve material stops slightly above the ribbing so it feels as if the sleeves are too short. But, it works!

I also tried on the mid length style and found that the bottom edge was "puffy". It didn't lay flat like a traditional seam like this one does.

All in all, happy with the purchase.

      Hi mani arain,

2XLT means XXL or double extra tall. These men's garments are 2-4" longer in length than 2XL. 2XL is sometimes labeled just 2X. These are all garments for big and tall men.

Thank you for shopping with Sears! Have a great day!
