Bought this for my mom, for her achy and arthritic shoulders and neck. She absolutely loves it! And, best of all, there is a timer on the appliance, and it automatically shuts off ... so if she should forget to turn it off, it will turn off itself after two hours. Am seriously thinking of getting one of these myself! Great product!

I purchased the Sunbeam® Renue Neck and Shoulder Heat Therapy Pad to help ease aches and pains from an accident. I love the way it wraps around the shoulders and goes up the neck, and appreciate the magnetic clasp closure at the front. It would be nice if it was longer in the back and wrapped more around the neck, but overall I am pleased with the product and the relief it gives me.

not totally satisfied

This item does what a heating pad is to do. The problem is that it doesn't have overall coverage of neck and shoulders. The worst is that it is not long enough on the back; would be great if it were about 6 inches longer. I thought to return the item, however it is better than any other heating pad I have tried for my neck and shoulders, so I kept it and use it.

Best Uses

I am a 59 year old woman who had to have neck surgery due to a serious accident. I also have shoulder pain as I fractured my collar bone when I was younger. I saw this Sunbeam heating pad advertised by Sears and thought I'd give it a try. Am I glad I did. It's a wonderful product that helps both my neck and shoulders. I turn it on the high setting at first, then lower the temperature in a few minutes. Just leaving it on until it automatically shuts off is usually exactly what I need to feel more comfortable. A great item to use at home as I cannot always get to the doctor. Thanks Sears for providing a safe product at a reasonable cost that always helps me when I need it.

I got tired of having to heat up a bean bag every few minutes so decided to try this - it works great and isn't too heavy on one's shoulders/neck

Excellent heat pad for the neck and shoulders, lots of heat settings to choose from. Fits the neck and shoulders well but could be a bit wider and longer. I love the magnets that hold it together around the shoulders. Very comfortable. I love that it also has a moist heat feature.

          A:

          Hello Jesselee,

This particular pad has the "option" of going to moist - it has a sponge insert that can be removed, moistened and reinserted for a more intense massage/heat therapy. Otherwise, it would be a regular dry massage heating pad. It has a cover with snap buttons to remove the sponge portion.

Thanks for shopping Sears and have a great day !

Sunbeam™ Renue Neck And Shoulder Heat Therapy Pad: This has been a life saver I live with chronic pain and have come to rely on this heating pad. Has anyone else experienced this heating pad refuse to turn on? It flashes a red light when plugged in and will not allow me to select a temperature. This item is only months old. Any suggestions of maybe a way to reset it?

Sunbeam heat - therapy pad: How dangerous is the magnetic clasp? What are the hazards? I have two hip replacements, and am wondering how this could be affected.

Actually I should have also added that the magnets are not in a clasp form. They are underneath material that runs along the two front panels. You don't see them - you just place the two front panels together and it works very well

Not dangerous at all. They are covered very well with thick material.

I'm not a Dr. but have metal rods and magnetic clasp had no impact. Doubt the magnets pose any hazards, particularly with their distance from the hip area. Level of heat is in the control of the user and is easy to manage.

If you have metal in your body, moist heat is NOT a good idea. The moist heat penetrates deeper into the tissues which can actually heat up any internal metal pieces. Speak with your therapist or doctor before using a moist heat option!

          Hello,

The health warnings associated with this product are as follows:

"This product contains magnets. Do not use if you have a pacemaker, ICD (Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator which is used to regulate irregular heart rythms by sending an electrical impulse to the heart) or an internal insulin pump."

          Thanks for shopping Sears.

        • A:

I don't believe the magnets would pose a problem unless you have a pace maker or any other metal near the area you are treating. Please read the full instructions, and check with your doctor if you are still not comfortable with the magnets.

Regarding the moist option. There are no extra parts that come with this heating pad. You simply plug it in, and choose the temperature you feel comfortable with. I don't use the moist option as I feel beginning with the high temperature for a few minutes, then lowering it seems quite sufficient. Reading all the instructions before use always helps. If you are still not sure, I'd call Sears and they'd be happy to assist you. I'm a long time customer and have always had excellent service from Sears.
