Comments about Double Heavy Duty Traverse Rod with 2-Way Draw:

Just replaced my curtain rod of 35 years +. Nice curtain rod for installing two layers of drapes that require draw strings.... one pair of heavier colored drapes and one pair of sheer curtains. They work great for pleated drapes and curtains.

  • Q:

Replacement Parts: I need replacement sliders for this rod assembly. I found the individual sliders/eyelets the curtain hangs on but I cannot find the first slider/glide which the draw string is attached to.

It is a metal bracket riveted to a plastic slider and this is what the draw string pulls on to open and close the curtains. the metal has broken away from the plastic slider.

Where do I find a parts list or do I have to buy the entire assembly again?

      We apologize for any inconvenience.

      A:

      Hello,

The 2-layer 2-way Draw Double Traverse Rod, offered on this page, is considered a heavy-duty rod so it should be suitable for the draperies you mentioned.

The 2 1/2 - 3 1/2'' Heavy-gauge Steel Rod projects to a maximum of 6" so this rod should be suitable for the valance provided you use the extension brackets as well.

      Thanks for shopping Sears.

Need ceiling mount parts and instructions: I ordered 2 of these traverse rods for pleated drapes & sheers... we are trying to install them but need to install the ends and centers to the ceiling as there is not enough room for the brackets if installed on the walls. Can you please let me know what parts I need and where I can get instructions -- there weren't any instructions in the rod boxes. Thank you.

      Hello Aprmarie,

Our supplier, Canadian Drapery Hardware Ltd., has provided the following answer to your inquiry.

"It would indeed be suitable with a little modification. The ends of the rod are designed to be screwed directly into the ceiling, but the centre supports included are for wall mounting. The client would need to add our item # PT-105 (how many depends on how long the rod is, etc.) however."

2-layer 2-way Draw: Are both layers able to be drawn? I need a rod that will allow the sheers to be drawn and/or the drapes. Both sets are pinch pleated using the pins. Is this a suitable product or do I require a different model? Thanks.

  • Q:

Traverse rod issue: I have purchased two of the double traverse rods. Both my sheers (back layer) and drapes (front layer) get stuck on the rod at the point where the rod telescope. This happens whenever I use the cord pulley to draw the curains back (on a one-way draw). It seems as if the little plasic tabs into which the hooks are placed don't do well when drawn back over the spot where the rod telescopes. A few tabs get stuck and then the drape starts to bunch up. I've had to manually move the tabs past this point. What can I do?

      A:

      Hello DeniseSearsCustomer,

Please be advised that our supplier has provided the following with regards to your product inquiry.

If these curtains are one way draw, is the weight of the curtains pulling on the rod once it's open? (Ex - is the curtain stacking on the same side of the rod as the join?) Even a slight bending (invisible to the eye possibly) could shift the track enough to make it difficult to pull the glides over / through. Quite possible with the curtains, less likely but still possible with the sheers - the rod can bend from it's own weight, and even sheers do weigh something when bunched at one side of the curtain.

Possible solution - A support (PT-104 is our standard wall style for the double traverse rod, and one should have been included in the package) properly mounted near the join might correct the issue.

Is the rod at it's full extension? Again, this could allow the curtain or even sheer to pull at the join a little - just enough to make it harder to pull. I see that the double traverse rods do not have an overlap, making this quite difficult to fix.

Possible solution - Once again, an additional support near or at the join could prevent this.

The cord might be twisted inside the rod. This can happen easily, especially when a two way draw is converted into a one way (this style does NOT come in a one way, so if this is our product, the cording system would have to have been converted.) This can often give the appearance of a glide jamming, but in fact the cord is getting caught.

Possible solution - Check if a twist can be seen in the cording inside the rod - if spotted, try to work out. If not possible, replacement of cord may be required.

If these solutions do not solve your problem, please write to home@sears.ca.

      Thanks for shopping Sears.
