Horribly assembly issues, parts don't fit

Screws that are soposed to fit on crib to put it at the maximum height do not fully go in & parts on the bily matching change table had the same issue. Both products we ordered were defective !!!!!! Very disappointed and if we have to haul it back to the store I'm gonna freak out.

Slat broke

By

Three days after converting the crib to a double bed one of the slats broke. My 178lb husband sat on the bed and one slat cracked in half. This is not acceptable and I am very disappointed that only after 3 days I have to fix this bed. What can I do to keep this from happening again?
As a crib it was easy to assemble. The wood had several cracks in it but not so severe that it caused me to return the crib.

Pros

  • looks nice

Cons

  • difficult to assemble
  • unsturdy

Best Uses

We changed our crib into the double bed in March. In September, one of the side rails broke out of the footboard. We fixed it, and it broke again 2 weeks later. Now we've fixed it again, adding 3 more screws to each corner.
If you buy it, be prepared to reinforce it.

It was difficult to assemble, with holes not easily lining up, the support rails being too short to screw into place, and just being I sturdy. I'll be shocked if this bed makes it until he's 8.

From an aesthetic point of view, I don't like all of the holes that held the bed together as a crib showing on the head and footboard. It would be nice if there was a filler screw or something.

    Very Sturdy Bed

    Pros

    • Easy setup
    • Sturdy
    • Stylish
    • Well-built

    Cons

      Best Uses

Very easy to put together and makes for a very sturdy bed. I had doubts about how strong a crib could be, but my two boys jump on it all the time without a wiggle or squeak from the bed. A much better option than buying traditional bed frame to use. *Makes the bed fairly high, my son can barely get on it. May want to get a step stool, too, for the little ones!*

Is Sears phasing out the conversion kits for the Bily Crib? Is white cotton no longer available? We have 2 black cribs that need to be converted to the double crib. Is cherry the only colour left?

Do I need to buy the conversion kit to turn the crib into the toddler bed? I don't want to turn into a double bed just yet, but also seem to be missing some screws that are required to turn into toddler bed.

If you are missing some srews and parts, yes you have to buy a conversion kit.

To turn into a toddler bed, you remove the front crib panel & add the 2 toddler guard rails that were included with the crib. If you have lost the screws or toddler guard rails, you can call 1-800-667-4111 or email service@isalesservice.ca

Instead of purchasing this conversion kit, can I just purchase a metal bed frame from Sears to make it into a full size bed? Or will the headboard and footboard not attach? What is the max weight for the conversion kit? Thanks

A Metal bed frame will work. There is a slight possibility that you might have to drill some holes to line up to the metal frame. Sorry, I don't know the weight limit on the wood conversion kit

          1. What is the length of the rails? 2. Do you have to use a boxspring? Thx!

          • A:

            The rails themselves are 6" x 2.5" x 80.375".
If you put plywood over the slats, you can do without a boxspring, but the mattress height would be quite low.
