Opération Enfant Soleil

Opération Enfant Soleil is a non-profit organization founded in Quebec City in 1988 by the Laval University Hospital Centre. From the very first year, the telethon was so successful that the Sainte Justine Hospital Centre and the Montreal Children's Hospital joined Opération Enfant Soleil's worthy cause the following year.

Their mission is clear: to raise funds for the development of quality pediatric care and for contributing to programs that provide social support and intervention for all children in Quebec.

Every year, Opération Enfant Soleil meets the needs of regional hospitals and organizations by providing more than 90 grants throughout the province of Quebec. In addition, Opération Enfant Soleil provides assistance and support to the large hospitals that treat children with very specialized needs: the Sainte-Justine University Hospital Centre, the Montreal Children's Hospital, the Quebec University Centre mère-enfant in Quebec City and the Sherbrooke University Hospital Centre.

Since its creation and thanks to the generous contributions of the general population and its partners, Opération Enfant Soleil has provided more than $114 million for healthcare to children throughout Quebec.

Opération Enfant Soleil and Sears: For the Love of Children!

Every year, the associates of the Sears stores throughout Quebec support Opération Enfant Soleil by working very hard to collect the necessary funds to help sick children. Sales of tickets for the grand prize of the Maison Enfant Soleil, sales of stuffed animals or candy, organization of a variety of events are just some example of activities initiated by the Sears team specifically aimed at raising money to help sick children in Quebec.

Since 2000, Sears has collected more than $5 million on behalf of Opération Enfant Soleil. In 2007 alone, $900,000 was handed over during the Opération Enfant Soleil telethon.

What's New?

The 2013 Telethon for Opération Enfant Soleil will took place on June 1st and 2nd, 2013. Once again this year, Sears made it a point of honour to be present for the sick children of Quebec and their families. We were at the Pavillon de la Jeunesse in Quebec City to proudly present the funds that our customers, partners, volunteers and associates have generously raised during the 2012-2013 campaign.

From March 28th to July 7th, 2013, the Enfant Soleil house was open to the public. Worth $550,000, the house located in Carignan had been fully furnished and decorated by Sears Canada for the thirteenth year in a row. Tickets for the draw were sold in Sears stores in Quebec. By purchasing a ticket, entrants become eligible to win a cash prize of $25,000 and another cash prize of $10,000. The draw was held on July 11th, 2013, live during the programme Salut Bonjour!
