Sears Operation Wish
Bringing Military Families Together over the Holiday Season
Sears launched Operation Wish in 2006 in coordination with the Canadian Forces Personnel and Family Support Services (CFPFSS). The program allows Canadian Troops stationed abroad to place on-line orders for their loved ones from the Sears Wish Book® catalogue and sears.ca. Copies of the catalogue are sent to Canadian Soldiers, Sailors and Air Force personnel posted to operational missions overseas, including Afghanistan where Canada has its largest contingency of troops stationed outside of their home bases.
"We began Operation Wish as a way of providing Canadian Soldiers stationed abroad with a connection to their families back home," said Dene Rogers, President & CEO, Sears Canada. "It has proven to be a success and we have formed a great alliance with the Canadian Forces Personnel and Family Support Services who has been invaluable in helping us to connect with deployed troops and their families at home. We have been overwhelmed with support from our customers and associates for this initiative."
Each Holiday season, Sears Canada, in conjunction with the Military Family Resource Centres (MFRC), also invites families of deployed servicepeople, as well as all Canadians, to send personalized wishes to troops deployed overseas through special signing events in many of our stores coast-to-coast. Whether oversized greeting cards, huge banners, photo montages or the like, these yearly initiatives bring troops closer to home in spirit. Here at home, Sears also provides annual support for MFRC Children's Christmas Parties at Canadian Forces Bases across the country.
