- Reduce the environmental impact of our operations;
- Nurture a culture of sustainability with our associates, customers, and the communities in which we operate.
How are we going to do this? Read on to find out more.
Sears is making it easier to Live Green.
Sears is the proud winner of the Energy Star® Retailer of the Year Award for three years in a row. Our goal is to offer a growing assortment of products and services to reduce your energy bill, create a healthy home and preserve our natural resources.
Look for these symbols to make better choices with greener products:

Let us help you reduce your home’s energy consumption with the most energy efficient products from within our award winning ENERGY STAR® lineup. Heating, cooling and hot water accounts for more than 50% of the energy used in a home. Major appliances another 20%.
Energy efficient products will save you money on your energy bills! They also mean there will be less drain on the electricity resources and less greenhouse gases going into the atmosphere.

You’ve read about toxic emissions that come from paint, carpeting, furniture, flooring, blinds and more. So what can we do to improve the environmental quality inside our homes?
To start, Sears seeks out products that are PVC-free. We also bring to market air-purifiers to remove allergens and pollutants indoors, and centralized water filtration systems so you can enjoy clean drinking water. We’re always on the lookout for new materials and products to help keep your home healthy.

The manufacture of products we all use every day has a big effect on our planet. Sears is looking for organic, alternative and certified materials in the products we buy, so that we impact the environment as little as possible.
We identify items made with organic cotton for example, to help eliminate the use of chemical pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers. We choose rayon from bamboo because it’s fast growing, requires less water, and is often grown close to its place of manufacture. We source Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) certified wood cut from responsibly managed forests. We will continue to research and source more and more products made with renewable resources.

Did you know that Canada is one of the highest water users per capita in the world? It's no wonder that easy access to safe, clean water is becoming such an important issue. Canadians use over 300 litres of water per person per day and 65% of all indoor water use occurs in the bathroom.
Sears wants to help our customers make simple changes like switching to water efficient fixtures such as low flow toilets and showerheads. By making these changes a typical household can reduce water consumption by 40 percent or more, with little or no effect on their lifestyle.
