Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada
For over 51 YEARS, Sears has been a proud supporter of Boys and Girls Clubs across Canada (BGCC), Canada's leading provider of quality after school programs that support the healthy physical, educational, social and mental development of Canadian children and youth. Sears shares Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada's philosophy that providing all Canadian children and youth with access to opportunity is essential to helping them achieve their full potential and create a better future for themselves and Canadian society.
Boys and Girls Clubs provide a critical support to families in communities across Canada, acting as a bridge between home and school, where over 200,000 young people annually find safe, fun, constructive environments in which to play, learn and grow into healthy, self-reliant, contributing adults. Boys and Girls Clubs have benefited the lives of five generations of young Canadians by providing opportunities for skills development, leadership and personal achievement.
By providing support to Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada and its Clubs across the country through a variety of associate and customer support-driven initiatives, Sears is investing in the future of Canadian youth. Sears provides funding to Sears After School Enhancement grants, which help Clubs offer quality after school programs in their communities. Sears also sponsors annual BGCC's National Conference.
I addition, Sears has also facilitated the provision of much-needed supplies to local Clubs across Canada, through meaningful donations of furniture, electronics, school supplies and tools, as well as team member volunteer efforts, so that they can enhance the club experience and programming for local children and youth.
BGCC Anti-Bullying Resources Available
Bullying is a major concern for parents, caregivers, Club staff, teachers and communities across Canada. BGCC has developed resources for BGC Clubs that provide insights and information on how to recognize bullying and how to prevent it. Bullying: What you should know, what you can do is a resource pamphlet developed with the assistance of Sears Canada. This pamphlet contains tips for adults to help young people find the protection, assistance and support they need when faced with a bullying situation.
